Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

any2markdown is a file-to-Markdown conversion tool. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the service, how it is used, and what choices you have.

The practices described here reflect the current implementation. If the implementation changes in a way that materially affects this policy, the page will be updated and the date below will change.

Files you upload

When you submit a file for conversion, the backend writes it to a temporary file on the server so the conversion engine can read it. Once conversion finishes — whether it succeeds or fails — that temporary file is deleted immediately.

any2markdown is not designed as a storage service, records vault, or document archive. The service does not build a permanent library of uploaded files. If a document contains highly sensitive, regulated, or contractually restricted information, exercise the same caution you would with any public online tool.

  • ·Temporary file written during conversion, deleted after
  • ·No persistent document storage or file library
  • ·Applies to both successful and failed conversions

Operational logs

The backend logs basic operational metadata for each conversion request: the filename, file size, conversion duration in milliseconds, and whether the conversion succeeded or failed. These records are used to diagnose technical issues, monitor abuse patterns, and understand usage at an aggregate level.

Filenames are included in logs as-is. If your filename contains personal or identifying information, be aware that this information will appear in server logs. Using neutral or anonymized filenames avoids this.

  • ·Logged: filename, file size, duration, success or failure
  • ·Not logged: file contents or converted Markdown output
  • ·Logs are retained for operational and security purposes

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data: pages visited, session duration, browser type, operating system, and approximate geographic location derived from IP address. This data is sent to Google and processed under Google's privacy policies.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to distinguish sessions and track returning visitors. IP addresses are sent to Google as part of the standard Analytics data collection flow.

  • ·Provider: Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC)
  • ·Data collected: page views, session data, approximate location, browser and OS
  • ·Processed under: Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service
  • ·To opt out: use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or a browser with tracking protection enabled

Cookies

any2markdown itself does not set first-party cookies. Cookies on this site come from third-party services: Google Analytics (session and measurement cookies) and, when advertising is enabled, Google AdSense (advertising and measurement cookies).

Most modern browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking analytics cookies will prevent Google Analytics from tracking your session but will not affect the file conversion functionality.

Advertising

The site may display ads served by Google AdSense. When AdSense is active, Google may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on prior browsing activity across sites in the Google Display Network, under Google's own advertising policies.

Ad personalization is governed by your Google account settings and your browser's cookie preferences. Users in regions where consent is required will be subject to Google's consent handling for advertising.

Information we do not collect

any2markdown does not require account registration, so no name, email address, or password is collected for the basic conversion workflow. The converted Markdown output is returned directly to your browser and is not stored server-side after the response is sent.

  • ·No account or registration required
  • ·No payment information collected
  • ·No converted output stored after the response is delivered

Your choices

You can opt out of Google Analytics data collection using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by enabling the tracking protection features built into your browser.

For ad personalization, visit myaccount.google.com/ad-settings if you have a Google account, or use your browser's cookie controls. These choices do not affect access to the conversion tool.

Changes to this policy

If this policy is updated in a way that materially changes how information is collected or used, the updated date at the top of this page will reflect that change. Continued use of the service after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
